Communications and Engagement Coordinator
Overview:
The Communications and Engagement Coordinator will support the promotion of OurSquamish’s programs, events, and placemaking initiatives across digital channels, and in person events. This role will focus on community engagement through storytelling, education, and awareness-raising on topics related to public spaces, placemaking, and local events.
Responsibilities:

Develop and schedule social media posts (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) that educate, inspire, and advocate for placemaking.

Promote events like Bike Valet, Placemaking Meetups, build projects, and partner events.

Collaborate with team members to share updates and stories from events and community projects.

Assist with design and copywriting for digital outreach materials.

Co-develop a content calendar and weekly work plan with supervisors.

Monitor engagement and suggest strategies to boost visibility and reach.

Communicate with community partners online or by email to support outreach.

Report weekly on activities and progress to supervisors.

Supporting other activities and events as needed
Ideal For:
Someone creative, organized, and passionate about public spaces and community building who has strong written and verbal communication skills. A good eye for design, photography, or content creation is a plus.

Time Commitment:

Start date: June, exact start date flexible. Summer term position.

Approximately 30 hours/week on a flexible schedule. May include evenings and weekends.

Remote work, with in-person meetings on occasion
