Are you passionate about public spaces, community building and sustainability? OurSquamish Is looking for a community animator, this is a part-time position funded through Canada Summer Jobs, open to people under 30 

Tasks and responsibilities could include:


  • Connect regularly with community partners

  • Host Placemaking days, engaging with the community

  • Assist with organizing meetings, workshops, and events to engage the community

  • Collect, record, and organize data from public surveys outreach, or observation to gauge success of, or need for, placemaking projects

  • Support programs and initiatives through administrative and operational assistance

  • Develop and post content to promote programs and activities on social media

  • Engage in placemaking projects

  • Understand and follow best practices for inclusive public engagement 

  • Roles and responsibilities may vary depending on employees unique strengths


What does a community animator (you!) do? 

The Community Animator works with the OurSquamish team to make connections with individuals and groups in Squamish and support programs and initiatives that lead to community engagement, placemaking, and increased organizational capacity and impact. They are supported in their outreach and engagement tasks through ongoing guidance and training from the OurSquamish team. 


*Any in-person engagement will be dependent on current COVID-19 protocols and restrictions. OurSquamish is committed to following all Public Health guidelines.

The ideal candidate is:


  • Passionate about public spaces, community building, and sustainability

  • Someone who loves connecting with other people and enjoys striking up a conversation with strangers

  • An excellent communicator, verbally and written

  • A creative thinker who is self-motivated and organized

Hiring for a start time in June 2021. You must be aged between 15 and 30 and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible.

Hours and Compensation : $20/hr | 15-20 hrs/week | 16 weeks
